On Feb 25th we will convene at the Knoxville coliseum for a day of education and inspiration. The day starts at 10am with a stirring presentation on civic responsibility by popular speaker David Crowe. That is followed by a day long seminar on how to run a campaign, get out the vote, identify good candidates, organize a precinct and much more by The Voices of America. There will be breaks throughout and for lunch- our day will end at 5. Come and meet with like minded, responsible citizens ready to return power back to the people. Church of the Cove is excited to provide a FREE night of inspiration (including snacks and door prizes) to the community! Many families find themselves in tough situations every day. Christopher Hebert, author of “The Boiling Season” (Harper Collins, 2012), will speak on the challenges of writing about a very different culture and the complexities of juggling fact and fiction at the Thursday, March 1 meeting of the Knoxville Writers’ Guild.
The event, which will be open to the public, will begin at 7 p.m. at the Laurel Theater, at the corner of Laurel Avenue and 16th Streets (in Fort Sanders). A $2 donation is requested at the door. The building is handicapped accessible. Additional parking is available at Redeemer Church of Knoxville, 1642 Highland Ave.

Several writers will share their poems, stories and essays published in “A Tapestry of Voices: an East Tennessee Anthology” at Pellissippi State Community College's Magnolia Campus, 1610 E. Magnolia Ave., Knoxville, from 10:45 to 11:45 a.m., Wednesday, Feb. 29.
“The anthology offers works that share the flavor of East Tennessee,” Joe Rector, local columnist and novelist, said. Rector is one of five scheduled contributors and will read his short story, “Cousins.”
The Great Smoky Mountains Chapter of the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter Society (CPCU), the Claims and Litigation Management Alliance (CLM) and The Insurance Professionals of Greater Knoxville (IPGK) will hold their inaugural “All Insurance Industry Day” (or “I-Day”) on April 19th at Rothchild’s Conference Center. Want to learn a new language? Sequoyah Birthplace Museum is offering a Cherokee language class in Vonore, TN on the following Mondays, February 20,27, March 5,12, 2012 from 6:30 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. The cost of the class is $40 for all four evenings. If you have taken the class before with the museum, a discount of $5 will be given. The class will be taught by Shirley Oswalt who is an enrolled member of the Eastern Band of the Cherokee Indian.
